September Clinic Updates

Hi All,

Here are the September clinic updates:

    • 144th has an iSTAT machine for the convenience care clinic—it can run a CBC and a BMP (not a CMP like I said before) in just a few minutes if you want to use it instead of STAT labs through LabCorp.
    • New urine drug screens are available called ToxAssure—see attached document for their testing capacity.
    • Flu shots are here—give them to your patients and get one for yourself.
    • Vaccine change—we’re changing vaccine vendors so work with your MA and double check your vaccine orders to make sure you’re using the correct combo vaccines.
    • You might see “Amazon” on your reason for visit—this just means the patient responded to a marketing flyer they received in the mail.
    • LEARN module: Corporate Responsibility 2018 due by Sept 30th—do it!
    • On October 1st—we’re going to start sending all pathology (paps, biopsies, etc.) to LabCorp instead of MetroPath—there will be separate email detailing how to do this later.

A few more details on the above updates:
               
  • Centura has changed vaccine vendors so the combo vaccines are different. Most common/applicable difference is Pentacel going to Pediarix. Pentacel has HIB and Pediarix has Hep B. We’re working on a new vaccine sheet that will have the different product line.
  • You can now either get your flu shot from an MA in clinic or via the hospital Flu Shot Clinics that start on Monday—just make sure you get your documentation to Jenn.

FW: Health care maintenance tab in epic

At our pod meeting, there were some questions that came up about using the HCM tab in epic. This is where you should make sure everything is updated so that your patients get credit for getting their items completed. In the dashboard tab of epic on the upper right hand side clinic on “link to quality measure instructional videos”. (see screen shot below). This has videos for using HCM and information about all the different quality metrics.
