Clinic Update December 2018
Clinic Update December 2018
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all of you!!
Thanks to everyone for helping with our staff breakfast earlier this month – it was very much appreciated by one and all!
In Brief:
Biometric Screening Visits lab codes use ICD-10 Z00.0; Z00.01 (or well-woman codes Z01.419 or Z01.411)
Physical Therapy Referrals - Refer instead to Ben Fetter, our athletic trainer, for an initial consult rather than to PT. Message him in Epic.
Medication Reconciliation – If an MA discontinues a med the provider must also discontinue it in order for the change to be permanent
Controlled Substance Contract Breach – a revised letter is now available, see attached
Colorado Medicaid Preferred Drug List link – https://www.colorado.gov/hcpf/pharmacy-resources
Monofilaments for diabetic foot exams can be reused – wipe off with alcohol swab 😊
A copy of this update is on the Sharepoint site!
In More Detail-
Biometric Codes - For Biometric Screening visits a preventative visit diagnosis should be used as noted above. Coverage for labs can be a problem if other codes are used. See the attachment for more details.
PT referrals – Physical Therapy at SAN is backlogged so Ben can help! Send a message to Ben Fetter (athletic trainer) in Epic instead. Many patients don't actually need formal PT and can get a home exercise plan from Ben. There will be a charge of $5 for every 10 minutes but that will be more affordable for many patients than PT. If he can't help a patient he will let you know and a regular PT referral can be done.
Med Rec in Clinic – See the attached document for the workflow on this. If a MA discontinues a med when rooming a patient they will communicate that to the provider. When the provider clicks on the X next to the med that will discontinue the med permanently and will show up in the Wrap Up/AVS. Ce
Controlled Substance Contract Breach – CHPG has a new letter which we can start using for patients who we still want to see but will no longer be prescribing controlled substances.
Colorado Medicaid Preferred Drug List link – Krystal sent this out last week as well. For those not aware you can search to Preferred Drug List (try "Control F" for the drug you need) which is updated frequently. It mentions specific conditions or criteria to get a medication covered which could decrease prior auths and time for patients to get their medications!
Thanks for all you do for our patients and Happy 2019!!!!
