FW: Inpatient medicine changes starting 4/1!

These changes will go into effect 4/1!

We are making these changes to try to eliminate the need for daily floor lists and improve nurse calls to the correct resident. It will also help to simplify our rounding structure and improve nursing satisfaction with rounds.

Feedback Folders:
Please start using the feedback folders on medicine. They are located in the hanging file on the wall by the white coats. All the interns have folders posted, and I will update the seniors each month with who is on service. The evaluations are at the top of the hanging file.

* On Monday- use the evaluations to set your goals for the weeks
* On Friday- update the evaluations with feedback and next steps to help to achieve the goals
This will allow attendings to see what residents are already working on and help us to give more consistent feedback. I will also give the completed evaluations to the advisors for the orange folders at the end of the month.

Epic care team list:
Each resident should assign themselves to the epic are team on their patients. This will be our new way to notify nurses about who is taking care of each patient. There are 2 ways to do this.

1. R click on your patients name from the patient list--> select treatment team--> click add me--> choose resident

If another resident was previously seeing that patient, find their name and select take-over to delete them and assign yourself. This way there will not be multiple residents on the same patient

1. Under the summary tab click treatment team and add per above

Cisco intern phones:
At the beginning of the month, each intern will be assigned a cisco phone number. They should carry that phone for the entire month. The late intern will also carry the 514031 number to get afternoon calls.

Patient floor list for nurses:
With adding the resident names to the epic care team, we will no longer need to send the floor list of patients to the nurses.
For resident contact numbers, we will send a list to the nurses at the beginning of the intern month with the assigned phone number for each resident and to call 514031 after 1 PM.

Combined Team A/B Multidisciplinary Rounds:
Since it is difficult to determine who is on team A and B on the epic care team, we will now combine our MDR. Both teams will round at 10:45 on 4N. CHP starts their rounds at 11 on 4N, so we will have to evaluate whether this time is realistic and be careful not to run over.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
