Clinic Update – September 2019

(Note: some updates were on the agenda for POD meetings last week so you may have already seen those)

 

  • Flu shot update: Limited numbers of VFC flu shots are in for Thornton and 84th, other flu shots are here as well!

Ask patients if they would like flu shots when they are here for visits as we are doing very limited flu clinics this year

 

  • Epic Message Reminder - Please don't send Epic messages straight to MAs-- some are part time and may not be here for days and weeks. Okay to send to both your MA and “pool” (i.e. 84th Red Team or 144th Blue Team) -- but have to have a pool on it as well.  Also please try to use Telephone Encounters rather than Staff Messages when possible. “Staff messages” can’t be seen easily by staff and they don’t save to the chart 

 

  • New Dental Hygienist – Welcome to Renee Hall, our new Dental Hygienist!  She is at 84th primarily but she may be coming up to 144th a few days a month as well.

 

  • GAD-7 Screening for patients with anxiety – Now part of the rooming tab in EPIC, you can decide on whether or not to do this during pre-visit planning

 

  • STAT labs- providers remember to tell MAs so it can be processed correctly, MAs and lab staff can't see the STAT part of the order on their side!

 

  • FYI - Call center doesn't schedule initial appointments in the psych clinic, MAs do -  don't send TE to call center for this, send to the MA pods

RE: September Book Club 9/10

  Hello!   So, this week is looking a bit chilly.  To make sure to enjoy the outdoors before it gets cold and we have to zoom all winter, I think we should move book club to Thursday, 9/17.  I hope everyone can still make it (and, you have an extra week to read the book!)    As a reminder, we will be discussing So You Want to Talk About Race - Ijeowa Ilua.      You have some more time to vote on location/food; please let me know if you haven’t voted yet, or would like to change your vote.   Anthem Park, just north of the hospital (where we had the last book club), with food from Ras Kassa’s Ethiopian restaurant in Lafayette.
