Here are the January 2020 Clinic Updates, a day late and maybe a dollar short 😊

Some topics were reviewed at POD meeting but there are several new updates, please read!

Tracey Holtz-Hawthorne:  Will be joining us as Practice Manager for 144th and 84th in mid-February, please welcome her! Special thanks to Chrisaba Corfield for all her hard work during this transition.  Yes, a BIG Thank You to Chrisaba!!   Tracey will be starting next Monday! 

 

Quality Measures: We will soon have an Outreach Care Technician (OCT) to help with the non-adherent reports and outreach to patients!  Her name is Mirela.  We will be setting up time for her to visit the clinics for a meet and greet and answer any questions you may have.

 

MA Charges Update:

1)PHQ-9 /ASQ -Providers can/should drop the charge for PHQ-9 and ASQ as MA's are no longer doing this.  They both require a dot phrase for administration/interpretation.  A diagnosis on the problem list for doing the PHQ ensures reimbursement.

2) Other MA charges – In process - MA's were required to drop multiple other charges during an office visit – things like pulse ox, vision screen, etc.  They are not currently doing any of these charges as their work flows are being reviewed.  Many of these may be captured in Epic other ways or may not be reimbursable.  If you have specific questions/concerns, please reach out to Beth/Ryan.

 

Lactation – Our hospital lactation consultants do not accept walk-ins, appointments are needed. See attached brochure for details.  To schedule appts you can call 303-430-MILK(6455) or 720-627-3647.  Also keep in mind providers like Krystal Starnes, Kim Windels and Laura Strickland who can do lactation appointments in clinic.

 

MAT Program/Suboxone Refresher:  If you have a patient who may want Suboxone, the first step is BHP to review for appropriateness/screening.  Not all will qualify for our program, so make sure you don't promise people will automatically be appropriate.    

 

Pelvic Ultrasounds: Per Central Scheduling please use U/S pelvic duplex complete when ordering a pelvic ultrasound.

 

Senior Heath Patients: For patients transferring care to us, they should be billed as new pts-- not established . Will be doing our best to schedule 1st visit for 40 minutes but trying to provide access for patients as well.

 

Diabetic Educator Referrals - We only have one diabetic educator currently (Sue!).  Please only place a Referral Order for patients with diabetes.  If issues are weight loss/nutrition/dietary issues/prediabetes these should not be referral orders, they should be an inbasket message to the Integrated Care Team. 

 

No Monday night diabetes support groups happening right now

 

Integrative Medicine Referrals - Tuesday mornings with Dr Pearson at 144th, MA's schedule this, do not send a separate order to referrals

 

NO Prior Auth for Viagra - For Viagra and other ED meds, please just print prescriptions for patients.  When rx sent to pharmacy, MA's need to do time-consuming prior auths, these meds will always be denied.   GoodRx and generic sildenafil are other options. 

 

Nebulizers - Reminder that nebulizers are available in clinics to dispense directly to patients (though not covered by Medicare).  Otherwise can give paper script to take to med supply company or order with DME form.  MA's can instruct patients in use.

RE: September Book Club 9/10

  Hello!   So, this week is looking a bit chilly.  To make sure to enjoy the outdoors before it gets cold and we have to zoom all winter, I think we should move book club to Thursday, 9/17.  I hope everyone can still make it (and, you have an extra week to read the book!)    As a reminder, we will be discussing So You Want to Talk About Race - Ijeowa Ilua.      You have some more time to vote on location/food; please let me know if you haven’t voted yet, or would like to change your vote.   Anthem Park, just north of the hospital (where we had the last book club), with food from Ras Kassa’s Ethiopian restaurant in Lafayette.
