The Future of Healthcare and Centura –
During this incredibly difficult time, Centura has been very committed to job security for providers and staff.
Many people are still facing big challenges in the coming weeks both at work and at home.
As a primary care practice, we are still vital to the healthcare system, which puts us in a good position
One way we can serve our patients improve revenue for our system is through Telehealth visits
- Phone visits do not generate significant revenue but Amwell or other video visits are paid like normal office visits
-Encourage pts to schedule Amwell visits
Scheduling and Telehealth Visits – Troubleshooting
- How can we clarify which providers are in clinic physically vs doing telehealth visits?
- Top of the Epic schedule will say “TELEHEALTH ONLY” but anyone scheduling visits needs to look for that
- MAs can help move in-person visits to the schedules of providers physically in clinic
- Providers in individual pods can look at clinic schedules to determine who will be on site, communicate to Alberta
- 1-2 providers per pod or clinic per day including 1 faculty or clinical faculty? What do you think will work best?
Any other ideas/questions?
Encouraging Patients to do Telehealth Visits -
Below is a list of possible patient questions you may encounter when offering to schedule a telemedicine visit. You can brainstorm additional responses.
(Thanks to Colleen McGee for coming up with these questions and responses!)
Why can’t I just come in for a face-to face office visit?
-as you have likely seen on the news, the corona virus outbreak is starting to impact Colorado, it is recommended to stay at home as much as possible and practice social distancing
-our job is to keep you well, we are adhering to the recommendation for social distancing and trying to limit unnecessary outings for patients, especially those whose age or medical problems make them higher risk
-if you have chronic medical conditions, a telemedicine visit allows a detailed evaluation by your primary care physician without the risk of being exposed to corona virus
-telemedicine visits also help keep providers healthy so they can continue to care for patients with both corona virus and non-corona virus illnesses
I have never done a virtual visit, how does it work?
-you will receive an e-mail that helps get you set up to do a face-to-face visit with your provider through your smart phone, tablet or computer
-a medical assistant will contact you 15-20 minutes before your visit to help walk you through the log-in process to be sure you are ready at your scheduled time
I am not a tech savvy person, can’t my issue be addressed over the phone?
-it is always preferable to see a patient in person
-since the corona virus is limiting the safety of face-to-face visits, a telemedicine visit is the next best thing
I don’t have a home computer, is there another way to do a virtual visit?
-you can use a smart phone or tablet
-Facetime is also an option if you have difficulty logging into the telemedicine site
Will I get billed for this visit?
-a telemedicine visit is billed the same as a normal face-to-face visit would be, you will pay the same copay
